Walter was and always will be a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and friend.  He will be missed tremendously by his loved ones, and will always be remembered by the many people that were blessed to know him personally.

Walter Janisch was born in the German town of Vaihingen an der Enz on June 26 1947.  In his early years, Walter moved with his family throughout the middle east, before settling in the Trucial State of Dubai in 1967, which would soon become part of the United Arab Emirates.

In 1968 Walter met the love of his life, Frances Janet Warley.  They were married in Bahrain on April 2nd, 1970, and soon started a family.  In 1972 their first son Mark was born, followed by Lee in 1975 and Darren James in 1980.

Walter had a difficult childhood, moving from school to school as the family relocated.  He had so many stories to tell about his youth, including time spent exploring the Egyptian pyramids and the ruins of Babylon in Iraq.

Despite his fragmented education, Walter was determined to teach himself new languages and skills, creating new opportunities for himself.  In turn, he was able to provide opportunities for his family, that he never had as a child.

Walter was always an outdoorsman with a thirst for new experiences and adventures.  He loved to spend time with his family and friends, camping in the desert, water-skiing, sailing, fishing, and exploring new countries.

After their children moved away to start their own lives, Walter and Fran continued to live in Dubai for a few more years.  Walter worked primarily for Oilfields Supply Center throughout his adult life, until retirement in May 2014.

Walter and Fran relocated to Storrington in the southern U.K. starting the next chapter in their lives.  They loved to travel and spend time visiting family and friends when they could.  During Covid, Walter perfected his recipes and techniques for numerous types of breads.  The Arabic dishes he made were exquisite, and he loved to make his recipes for his family and friends to enjoy.

Walter Janisch passed away on March 12th, 2024.  He is survived by his wife Fran, his sons Mark, Lee, and Darren, his younger sister Renate, and his youngest brother Gerry.  Walter is preceded in death by his younger brother, Gunther.


Walter will always be loved and never be forgotten.
